With just one week before Premier League new season start, Manchester United’s on-loan winger Bebe brought them an ugly surprise. He will be out for six months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.
Bebe suffered his injury during a game played for Portugal under-21s in Slovakia on Tuesday. The 21-year-old player joined Turkish club, Besiktas on loan in June, with a view to staying for the duration of the 2011/12 season.
A statement on the club’s official site said: “Manchester United forward Bebe, currently on loan at Besiktas in Turkey, has suffered a serious knee injury and will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.”
“Bebe tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in Portugal Under-21s’ 1-1 draw against Slovakia on Tuesday night and will now require surgery to repair the damage to his left knee.”
“It is unclear at this stage whether he will remain at Besiktas or undertake his rehabilitation in Manchester.”
Although the losing a player is not a good thing, Manchester has a lot of players to chose from. And with so little time remained to the start of the new season, the last year champions must stay concentrated to have a good start.
