Testing their teams, all the clubs went all over the places, in all kind of competitions. Chelsea had a game with Malaysia, a game with a lot of problems. The Blues made an official complaint against the Malaysian fans who cursed Benayoun non-stop in the match against Malaysia IX, won by Villas-Boas team with 1-0.
Nearly 85,000 people have booed on every touch of the ball of Benayoun. In Malaysia, 60% of the population is Muslim and supporter of the Palestinians. They do not recognize Israel and have no diplomatic ties with the country of Benayoun’s origin.
Chelsea has not filed a complaint immediately after the game because the team officials were not sure if fans were Semites, or just their favorite team hostile opponents. Eventually, the English have made complaint to the Federation of Malaysia and asked to take action.
“The Asian tour was great, it’s a shame that these people ruined our experience. Such gestures are offensive, embarrassing and unacceptable in a stadium!” said Chelsea’s officials.
Malaysian federation replied: “It’s a regrettable incident, which unfortunately is hardly impeded. Malaysia should be an example in this area and something like that will not happen again”.
