QPR faced Aston Villa in a frustrating game full of controversies. Left in 10 after Armand Traore was eliminated, QPR snatched a dramatic point in second-half stoppage time, thanks to Richard Dunne’s late, late own goal.
Alan McLeish, manager of Aston Villa said: “I am gutted that we threw it away in the dying embers of the game after a second half performance which is much more what I expected from these players. The first half was pretty woeful and I let them know that at half-time.”
Dominating in the first half, QPR were overpassed in the second by Aston Villa scoring from an odd penalty in the 58th minute. McLeish continued: “I thought we restricted QPR to only a few gilt-edge chances in the first half and defended well but the irony was that two of our best players, Richard Dunne and Stephen Warnock, ended up contributing to their equalising goal.”
