As in real life, migration exists in football too. The main reason for this, in football, is the money. The case in the article is the one of Raul Meireles.
The player insists he is no traitor, after swapping Liverpool for Chelsea. The Portugal midfielder handed in a shock written transfer request an hour before Wednesday night’s transfer day deadline, provoking criticism from some groups of the Liverpool’s supporters.
Meireles, a player in his 28ths tried to defend himself saying that his move wasn’t motivated by money: “People think I am a Judas and that it was because of the money. It was not because of that. I will explain a bit later, things are still fresh.”
The Portugal player felt that his career at Liverpool is on a pause, so, he thought that a move to Chelsea would bring something new in his career, especially that he played under Villas-Boas when he played for Porto.
“It all happened very fast. I’m not the only one to blame for my exit from Liverpool but I will never stop loving the club and I have great friends there.” added Meireles.
