The Community Shield from yesterday was a game worthy off all cheer and applause. Facing two of the most important teams from the Premier League, and not mentioning that they are from the same town, Manchester, with a long history of their rivalry, United and City offered an extraordinary show for the eye.
City started full throttle a game that, after the first period the score was 2-0 for them. Things couldn’t be more perfect for Mancini’s team. The only thing is that, when you have an opponent like Man United, you have to keep standards high during the whole game.
Being brought to reality during the break, United came back alive. In the 52 minute, Chris Smalling got rewarded for his efforts and took the score to 2-1. But this wasn’t enough for the Red Devils. Taking advantage of their genius player, Nani took the initiative accompanied by Rooney and managed to equal in 58th minute of the game and then, just before the final whistle, stroke another time, taking the Community Shield.
After the game Rooney said: “Have to say, I think today was a footballing lesson. Great win for the champions.”
Congratulations Manchester United!
