Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has given up football career yesterday after 17 years with the ”red devils”, following to join the team’s staff.
Scholes decided to withdraw immediately after Champions League final this year, lost to Barcelona, score 1-3. Yesterday he held his retirement match in front of the New York Cosmos, a team that Pele re-established for who have evolved several former football stars.
The midfielder took his farewell in style, managing a superb goal at 0-0. There followed five more successful of his colleagues, all of them being dedicated to him. Before the match, Scholes received a trophy from the club and was congratulated by Pele and Eric Cantona.
